Story A
After first term finals, Paul finds himself at the top of his medical school class. He was in many respects the perfect student; his high school and undergraduate years were laden with academic plaudits and unlimited adulation from his teachers, and his graduate years were very much the same. He also had a social life – a couple of girlfriends, some extremely trustworthy friends, and some sleepless nights out horsing around with roommates adorned his otherwise mechanical lifestyle.

However, there were obvious clashes of psychologies that certainly stained the otherwise immaculate slate that was Paul’s life. For Paul, books were mildly entertaining; science was engrossing; and he found genuine interest in his academia. He inwardly insulted those with low grades as stupid and those with low levels of effort as dispassionate. As much as such occurred within Paul’s mind, there was a whole new world under the skins of others. They could not depend openly upon a person who loved books more than them; they could not see him for dinner or for lunch. Eventually, a wall of miscommunications and misunderstandings that grew thicker and thicker every year pervaded the lives of Paul and those around him; and of course, Paul, being an admittedly exceptionally bright individual, identified this barrier and aptly named it, “The Wall.”
